“Our local tv station is in Cape Girardeau, KFVS 12.  Our local papers are the Weekly Record, in New Madrid, and the Standard Democrat in Sikeston.  We would love to see our ad placed so friends and family could see the kids in action.  Thanks for all of your hard work!”
-Chris Hodges, New Madrid

“I really would like to expand this program through the whole school and include all the teachers and all the students. We want more kids to hear the message“

“Hello, Laura!  I just wanted to give you a quick update on our project.  Our campaign is "Smoke's No Joke."  We are going to the elementary schools in our district (May 7 & 8) and presenting a comedy routine/skit along with our no smoking message.  The comedy routine is purely for entertainment; we are not making jokes about smoking.  On the days we will be in the schools, the teacher, cooks, janitors, etc. in the building will be wearing a "Smoke's No Joke" t-shirt.  We also had a joke contest for the elementary students and we selected one winner in each grade to receive a "Smoke's No Joke" t-shirt and they will share their joke during our program.  We will also be providing pamphlets to every student in the district, including the high school and middle school students.  We filmed our PSA last Wednesday and all went well.  I am really excited about this project and I would love to be able to continue it in the future.  Please let me know if there is anything else you need from us or if you need more information about our project.  Thanks!”
-Chris Hodges, New Madrid

“The kids really liked the slogan contest and were very appreciative of the recognition.  I am very much looking forward to keeping this project going.  Thank you so much for this opportunity for our school.  We want to do more activities next year now that we know how to do it.”

"Yes!  Count Malden in!  I am sure I have three students that would be tickled to meet legislators.  I was in Jefferson City for a Team spirit Reunion early in April and talked to our Reps - Tom Todd and Rob Mayer about the young lady that wanted to try to pass a new law concerning smoking around children 6 years of age or younger.  They both were very positive.  Thank you!!!  We had a blast!!  I am really anxious to see our video!!!"
-Mary Howell, Malden

"Also, depending on the dates, I bet some of my students would be interested in meeting with our congressman.  So, I hope I got you all the info. you need.  Thank you for keeping us so well-informed about the project.  We really appreciate your hard work!"

Our project is going to be on display at the Bollinger County Library.  The library is an awesome resource to empower our teens.  This seems to be a popular 'hang out', especially with the different computer game competitions they host and the high speed internet access.  As you can see from the pictures, the left side
of our media board contains chewing tobacco facts and the right side contains smoking facts.  The middle section of the board is the best part!  Our students created magazine covers which are full of anti-tobacco messages.  A high school student helped us with the Photoshop program in order to place the pictures on our magazine covers.

I greatly appreciate all of the work you have put in to this project in order to empower our youth!
